How I Create Ultra Custom, Vibe-y Brand Photos
Why a ‘vibe’ does it matter?
There’s power in giving your ideal consumer all-the-feels when they visit your website!
Custom brand images should evoke emotions! Model your website after the feeling you want your consumers to have when they experience the benefits of your product or service.
Moreso, brand photography also positions your website as trustworthy and professional. They let the consumer see who their money is supporting!
Aka — the goal should be to create a vibe that evokes exactly the feeling you want your consumer to have… this signals to the consumer that they need to purchase from you because they can’t live without your offering!
“But how do you create images that emotionally speak to my audience and match my brand aesthetic?”
Let me show you!
MOOD BOARD
Gather images that you're drawn to and envision for your brand. I like using Pinterest to save all the images in one place. From there, I help you to refine the following elements within your board that will create our vibe!
PROPS
This part is important! Without props, a photo feels flat. Props can be the product you sell.
It can be similar to the props you see on your mood board. It can be the items you use to do your job.
Props help bring the story to life.
LIGHTING
Repeat after me: Not every brand needs white, bright photos!
If your brand is moody, embrace shadows! If you want to set the mood, what style of lighting makes the most sense?
Think about it -- the vibe at a concert totally changes when they dim the house lights...
COLORS + POST-PRODUCTION
Creating a total vibe doesn't mean that the process stops after the camera is set down.
Similar to Instagram filters, playing with different levels of saturation, highlights, shadows, white balance, and grain can transform a photo from good to irresistible!
COMMITMENT TO THE VIBE
Brand photos shouldn't look like they were just plopped onto a webpage. They should be seamless.
Which came first, the brand identity or the brand photos?
A retro vibe should include retro-esque fonts, colors, and even word choice!
